Filing Your Divorce in Ventura County
Ventura County keeps family law filing in one place. Every divorce in the county goes through Room 210 at the Hall of Justice on South Victoria Avenue, so unlike Los Angeles or San Diego there is no zip-code lookup to get wrong before you can file.
Hall of Justice, Room 210
800 South Victoria Avenue, Ventura, CA 93009
Clerk’s office 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday — one family law filing counter for the whole county
We file there on your behalf, so the address above is for your reference rather than your diary.
- One filing counter for the countyRoom 210 at the Hall of Justice, 800 South Victoria Avenue, open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. There is no wrong building to file in and no zip-code table to check first.
- Nobody is forced to e-fileVentura accepts filings in person, by post, through the drop box outside Room 210, and electronically. Self-represented parties can use any of them, and none of the options changes how the court handles your case.
- $435 to fileThe standard California fee, with no local surcharge. Riverside and San Francisco charge $450. Form FW-001 waives it entirely if paying would be a hardship.
- Self-help in Ventura and OxnardThe Family Law Self-Help Center runs at both locations and takes appointments as well as walk-ins. Staff can hand you forms and explain procedure, but by law they cannot fill anything in for you or check that it is right.
None of this is advice about your case — it is the practical detail of how this county works, which is the part most people cannot find in one place. If you would rather hand the whole thing over, that is what we are for.

Two flat-fee plans cover almost every uncontested divorce in the county. Which one you need depends on whether there are children, property or debts to divide — not on where in Ventura County you live. The court’s filing fee is separate and goes to the court.

Credentials That Matter
In California, anyone preparing legal documents for the public without attorney supervision must be a registered Legal Document Assistant, registered and bonded in the county where they are based. Plenty of “online divorce” services are neither. Ask them.

Testimonials
Clients Love California Divorce Pros
Our clients consistently tell us how much easier the process was than they expected. Here are a few of their stories in their own words..
Common Questions
Do I have to live in Ventura County to file here?
One spouse must have lived in California for six months and in Ventura County for three months before filing in this county. We check this on the free call, because filing in the wrong county means starting over.
Do we both have to agree?
You can start without your spouse’s agreement or participation. If they never respond, we prepare the paperwork for a default judgment. What we cannot help with is a genuinely contested case.
Do I have to go to the courthouse?
Usually not. We file for you, and most uncontested Ventura County divorces are decided on the paperwork without a hearing.
How long will it take?
California requires six months from the date your spouse is served. No service can shorten that. What we can do is make sure nothing is rejected along the way, so six months does not become nine.
Are you attorneys?
No. We are registered and bonded Legal Document Assistants. We prepare and file documents at your direction, and we do not give legal advice or represent you in court.
